'Taste of Life'
Sketch for my newest painting, 'Taste of Life', for the Flora N Fauna show at Cassel Gallery this June.
Few N Far Road Trip Recap
So it's been a week since I returned from the rockin Few N Far west coast road trip, and I'm still smiling. All the ladies rocked it out on our walls, and friendships and connections were strengthened. We are becoming a tight knit crew of talented and dynamic women, and I feel so fortunate to be a part of the whole thing. Many thanks to all who came out and supported, and to our generous sponsors and hosts. The van started in Sacramento, then SF, then LA, stopped in SD and then finished up in TJ, here's some of my pics from LA and TJ. We had the whole thing filmed and photographed by Lea Bruno and Erin Ashford, so better pics to come! Can't wait to do our next big project

'Hold on Tightly' Reyes solo show this Thurs
This coming Thursday, April 26th from 8:30-11pm, my good friend Victor Reyes will be showing at our studio gallery, Cassel Gallery in SF. His new body of work takes on a whole new life with fabric and quilting. Hope to see you there! Amandalynn
Victor Reyes
Opening Reception: April 26, 2012, 8:30 - 11:00pm
Hold On Tightly, new work by Victor Reyes, is an explorative site-specific installation at San Francisco's Cassel Gallery. The concept for this body of work is the relationship between quilting and graffiti in the context of American Folk Art. Hold On Tightly is partially inspired by Reyes’ contemplation of designing, the tradition of quilting and textile working, and graffiti as the newly emerging Folk Art. For this installation Reyes draws on the history of quilting and textile work, in an effort to visually marry old traditions with the new role of graffiti as a form of cultural expression.
The site-specific nature of this exhibition is informed by the location of the Cassel Gallery within a design studio. The unique exhibition space has offered Reyes the opportunity to explore these folk art inquiries in the context of an over one hundred-year-old textile company. Hold On Tightly has been developed specifically for Cassel Gallery as a dedication to the history of hand made fabrics.
Reyes’ work is derived from outsider art practices, rooted in the California's street art movement of the past two decades. The experiences and relationships forged in this time have dictated the course of the Reyes' work, weaving a story, woven into Quilts. These new patchwork pieces explore Reyes’ artistic development and perspective, formed through personal history and his immersion in graffiti culture.
The story of America is fettered with footnotes of cultural relevance that are captured by the people that have shaped this maverick country- The story of these custom Quilts is a dedication to the people that have shaped the Artwork of Victor Reyes.
Hold On Tightly opens in conjunction with the launch of Reyes’ XO hat line for Goorin Bros. Hat Company. The product release reception will begin at the Goorin Haight Street Hat Shop in San Francisco from 5-8pm, where consumers will have a first time look at Reyes' new XO line. Then join us for the artist reception, Hold On Tightly, at Cassel Gallery from 8:30-11pm.

Flora N Fauna progress
This past sunny weekend in SF, I had the pleasure of painting hard with Lady Mags on our large mural production, 'Flora N Fauna'. We are getting close to finishing it up, and have been enjoying all the positive response from the neighborhood. Gotta love SF!!
'Flamenco' on 18th and Mission
I just finished up a new piece on a wall in the Mission district in SF. I was inspired by a lively group of Flamenco dancers I recently watched while having drinks at one of my favorite Spanish food spots in SF. This mural is located on 18th in SF at the cross street of Mission.

Peekaboo Art
I just recently finished up the final art pieces for my 2012 Peekaboo Collection, which is a custom tie and hat line that I am designing for Goorin Bros. I had the unique opportunity and pleasure of working with the lovely Jesse Lee and Justine Ambat , as my inspiration models. These two beautiful muses will be found hiding on the inside linings of the Peekaboo collection ties and hats , hitting stores in late November. I am also working on several fascinator head pieces for the collection as well. So lots more to come! Thanks to all the models, photographers, designers and stylists involved!!
